Fouquieria macdougalii

Mexican Tree Ocotillo

This spiky Mexican native is a rare and interesting addition to any xeriscape landscape design or cactus collection. It is prized for its intertwined green branches. It can potentially reach heights of 20 ft, but 6-10 ft is more common is the southwest desert. In late spring through early Summer it produces showy, red, tubular flowers and the tips of each branch. Great for hummingbirds and butterflies.
