Pistacia lentiscus

Mastic (Evergreen Pistache)

A slow growing, dense aromatic shrub whose sap is the source of mastic, an aromatic resin that has been used for gum, medicinal purposes, and even varnish. Fruits rarely present, but can produce small red berries that turn black when ripe. Often maintained as a shrub, but can be grown to be a beautiful, gnarly trunked tree. Good around pools with it's non-invasive roots. Also, can be used for a shade tree.
