Caesalpinia pulcherrima

Red Bird of Paradise

This North Mexico native has a wide variety of applications. Frequently used as large shrubs, if left alone, they can grow to be small shade trees. Careful but infrequent pruning is all that is needed to make this flowery shrub into whatever you want it to be. Their blooms lead to pods that drop at the same rate.
