Asparagus fern has been a staple plant in the Arizona desert for years. It works well as an informal groundcover or as a container plant indoors or out where its bright green foliage and unique structure soften planters and pottery. Yearly pruning is required to remove individual dead fronds but otherwise the plant is almost maintenance free.
