Plumbago auriculata

Blue (Cape) Plumbago

Moderately to fast growing shrub with an open and airy habit. Powder blue flowers appear in spring and continue through summer to fall giving it one of the longest blooming seasons in the valley. It will tolerate full sun if surrounded by other plantings but will not if surrounded by gravel or concrete; it does require some direct sunlight to reach its full blooming potential. Flower clusters are great for attracting butterflies. Extra watering during periods of extreme heat.

  • Compact shrub habit but will sprawl gracefully
  • Height: 4-6 ft
